Green & Green Company
The baked snack food manufacturer Green & Green Company dates back to 1897 and was founded by Weston Green. About a decade later it moved to Dayton's Edgemont neighborhood to a factory at Cincinnati and Concord Streets.
It expanded multiple times and at one point was the largest biscuit bakery in Ohio. One of its signature snack foods was the Cheez-It which was invented in Dayton in 1921.
After a merger in the 1940s Green & Green became the Sunshine Biscuit Company. It remained at its Edgemont location (which is now the Carillon neighborhood after I-75 split Edgemont into two) until 1972 and the company was eventually sold to the Keebler Company.
In 2024 an Ohio Historical Marker was approved for the site to commemorate the Cheez-It factory.
